Northwestern Memorial Hospital (NMH), in partnership with Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine, is a
nationally recognized academic medical center and a major Midwest referral center with more than 1,554 physicians
representing virtually every clinical specialty. Patient accommodations include 873 licensed beds between Northwestern
Memorial and Prentice Women's Hospital.
Northwestern Memorial encompasses nearly three million square-feet of hospital space. This includes the 17-story
inpatient Feinberg Pavilion, the 22-story outpatient Galter Pavilion and the new 17-story, facility which houses the
relocated Prentice Women's Hospital. With over one million square feet under roof, the Prentice Women Hospital is home to
the Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center which is the largest comprehensive breast center in the Midwest. The Prentice
is dedicated to women's health through all stages of life, including obstetrics, gynecology, oncology and women's
cardiovascular health.
NMH is the main site where pathology residents receive training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. The surgical
pathology gross room was renovated in 2009, and includes eight state of the art grossing stations.
Specimens from operating rooms on the Northwestern campus are handled in this gross room.
