Resident Evaluation

Residents are evaluated by the faculty using the New Innovations program at the end of each rotation. If the rotation lasts longer than two months, interim evaluations are done at least every two months. Evaluation of the resident is done by the laboratory director or designee with input from other faculty on the rotation. The evaluation is discussed with the resident by the medical director at the end of each rotation.

The program director reviews the residents' progress at least every six months. This is reported to the residency committee, including individual concerns. Yearly in depth, individual meetings are held with each resident to review both progress and future career goals and plans. The residents may review their evaluations immediately upon request.

The residents evaluate each rotation, attendings, and one another using New Innovations at the end of each rotation. At the end of each academic year, all residents are asked to complete an annual Program Evaluation. Anonymous summaries are compiled and reviewed by the residency committee on an annual basis.

The program director and residency committee may conduct surveys concerning the residency program by contacting prior residents who are in practice.

All evaluations are to be confidential, and to have the same elements of privacy as the formal evaluation of personnel.
